Introduction

This blog platform was built as a hands-on learning experiment - a place to apply SEO knowledge in practice, test content architecture decisions, and understand how search engines crawl and index Next.js-powered content at a technical level.

The Challenge

The key challenge was building a blog that is genuinely SEO-optimized from the ground up - not as an afterthought. This meant thinking about dynamic metadata, structured data, sitemap generation, semantic HTML, and content hierarchy before writing a single article.

The Solution

I implemented server-side rendering for all blog posts, automatic dynamic metadata via generateMetadata(), JSON-LD Article schemas per post, and a sitemap.ts file that automatically includes new posts. The result is a platform where every post is immediately indexable by search engines.

UI/UX Design

The reading experience was prioritized: comfortable line lengths, readable typography scale, generous spacing between sections, and a layout that doesn't compete with the content. Navigation is minimal so attention stays on the article.

Key Learnings

Building this platform taught me that SEO is not a plugin or a checklist - it's an architectural decision. The choices you make about routing, rendering, and data structure directly determine how well search engines understand and rank your content.
